Vocalist, Conductor, Actress
Karen is a professional voice teacher, conductor, actress and WunderKeys instructor serving the Greater Orlando area and online community. A Central Florida native, Karen Lecky-Springer has been comfortable entertaining audiences on stage since the young age of 3, when she began taking dance lessons. When her passion for the arts led her to explore other avenues in addition to dance, Karen began to excel in music and acting, landing roles in school and community productions.
While studying music (Vocal Performance) at Rollins College, Karen decided to make the transition from state acting to Television & Film. She quickly landed a principal role in an international Werther's Original commercial. Other television appearances followed, but Karen decided to dedicate her studies solely to the art of singing and conducting.
Upon graduating from Rollins College, Karen attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting. She opened her own private voice studio while also serving as the Director of Music and Worship Arts at Mt. Pisgah UMC in Greensboro and Choir Director at Canterbury School. Although focused on her music career, Karen continued acting and appeared in several productions, including an appearance on the hit Showtime series "Homeland."
Her decision to move back to Florida to be closer to family enabled Karen to find new teaching venues and open her music studio, the Lecky-Springer Music Studio, to a whole new group of students. In addition to her private studio, Karen has served on the Music Faculty at Rollins College and Seminole State College, teaching Voice and Music Appreciation classes alongside directing various choirs. Additionally, she served as the Choir Director at First United Methodist Church of Oviedo. Other past credits include Chorus Master of the Messiah Choral Society of Orlando and singer with the Bach Festival Choir of Winter Park.
Karen is actively engaged in Central Florida, continuing her love of teaching music while also soaking in every minute with her two sons, husband, and studio Yorkshire Terriers (Maestro and Rex).
